HETAS registered chimney sweep. £100 — sweep, smoke draw test and HETAS certificate issued on the day.
Brentwood has a good spread of property types — from the older housing in the town centre to the substantial detached houses in Shenfield and Hutton. Larger properties often have multiple chimney stacks, and we cover all flue types — open fires, wood burning stoves, and multi-fuel appliances. The HETAS certificate we issue is the same whatever the size of the property or the appliance.
We cover Brentwood town, Shenfield, Hutton, and the surrounding villages. Upminster is also within our area — see our Upminster page.
Every sweep includes the full brush clean, smoke draw test, and HETAS certificate issued before we leave. The certificate is accepted by home insurers as proof of professional sweeping.
HETAS sweep registration is described in different ways — HETAS approved, HETAS registered, and HETAS certified are all terms used for sweeps trained and registered under the HETAS Sweep and Service Scheme. Whatever term brought you here, the credential is the same. You can verify it on HETAS.co.uk.
Full sweep · Smoke draw test · HETAS certificate
Dust sheets down · No mess left behind
Larger properties in Shenfield and Hutton frequently have two or more flues that need sweeping in the same visit. Each flue gets its own sweep, its own smoke draw test, and its own HETAS certificate — charged at £100 per flue. We also see a good number of Brentwood properties where a flue has been unused for a period and is being recommissioned before a stove installation or after a property purchase.
Larger properties with multiple flues are more likely to have one or more that have sat unused for a period. An unused flue can accumulate debris, bird nesting material, or moisture damage without any visible sign from inside the property. Before a flue is brought back into use — or before a stove is installed into an existing chimney — it needs sweeping and a smoke draw test. The HETAS certificate documents that the flue is clear and drawing correctly at that point. That record matters to your insurer and to any future buyer. A HETAS certified sweep provides the same record — the certificate is consistent across all registrants under the scheme.
HETAS recommends sweeping at least twice a year when burning wood, and at least once a year for smokeless fuel. Best time: just before the heating season starts.
I have two fireplaces in my Brentwood property. Can you sweep both in one visit?
Yes. Multiple appliances can be swept in a single visit. Each flue gets its own sweep, smoke draw test and HETAS certificate. Charged at £100 per flue. Call to let us know how many you have and we will allocate the right amount of time.
Do you cover Shenfield and Hutton as well as Brentwood town?
Yes. Shenfield, Hutton and Brentwood town are all within our standard area. Call to confirm if you are in one of the surrounding villages and we will let you know before you book.
